How much is a typical condo renovation deposit?
It varies by development and is set by each MCST, so check your own by-laws and forms. As real examples: Casuarina Cove (MCST Plan 2205) asks for a minimum deposit of S$1,000 with work limited to one month, and Evergreen Park (MCST Plan 2521) asks for S$500 for minor works or S$2,000 for major works, refundable 30 days after completion if debris is cleared and there is no damage, plus a S$53.50 administrative fee.
From the RRD Field Guide, checked against the sources cited in Condo Renovation in Singapore: MCST Approval, By-Laws, Deposits and Prohibited Works. General information, not advice for your project.
The fuller picture
Condo renovations need MCST approval under the development's by-laws, and MCST authorisation under section 37 of the Building (Strata Management) Act for anything that affects the building's appearance or structure. Works adding floor area need a 90% resolution and URA permission. Structural works need a PE and BCA approval; household shelters, façades and balconies are tightly restricted.
