What is the fine for breaching construction noise limits?
Under the Environmental Protection and Management (Control of Noise at Construction Sites) Regulations, breaching the noise limits, the no-work rule, an NEA notice or a permit condition is an offence punishable by a fine of up to S$40,000, with a further fine of up to S$1,000 for each day the offence continues after conviction. NEA says enforcement is more severe for repeat offences and longer exceedances. Since 1 October 2022, violators of the no-work rule can be required to install video surveillance.
