What is an Approved Window Contractor?
A company or firm registered with BCA's Contractors Registry under the regulatory workhead RW01. The Building Control Regulations require anyone installing a window to engage an Approved Window Contractor or a builder (BCA's page cites the GB1 or GB2 workhead), and the work must be done by, or under the supervision of, a BCA-certified trained window installer employed by that firm. HDB flat owners must use an Approved Window Contractor listed in HDB's own directory.

The fuller picture
In Singapore the owner of a flat is legally responsible for keeping its windows securely fixed. BCA advises checking windows at least once every six months, and casement windows must use type 304 stainless steel rivets, not aluminium. Since 1 October 2025, a window that falls through poor maintenance can lead to a fine of up to S$20,000, 12 months' jail, or both.
