What do CW01 and CR01 mean in BCA's directory?
They are workheads in BCA's Contractors Registration System. CW01 is General Building, which covers building works using more than two unrelated trades and A&A works involving structural changes. CR01 is Minor Construction Works, covering minor building, civil and landscape works not governed by the Building Control Act, including minor A&A. The grade next to the workhead, such as C3 or L1, sets the value of public sector contracts the firm may tender for.

The fuller picture
Check four things before you award building works in Singapore: the BCA builder's licence (Class 1 general builders have no value limit; Class 2 is limited to projects of S$6 million or less), the BCA Contractors Registration System workhead and grade, bizSAFE status, and insurance certificates. Then protect yourself with progress-linked payments, a performance bond where justified, and a programme you can monitor.
